An extremely underdeveloped manhwa. I never liked it in the first place but since so many people did, i tried to read it till the end. I agree with every thing you have said. People are completely ok with rapists in yaoi and then defend it by saying its 'just a manga'. It just doesnt sit right with me, especially if i form a bond with the characters. Anyway, in the middle i was honestly hoping the mc would go back to the slightly messed up guy. He seemes to really treasure the mc and even tho he was fucked up, their pairing made so much more sense. I was also hoping the blond guy would get together with his high school crush. They were so fucking cute and definitely had an actual relationship. The canon pairing was incredibly lame.
Strictly speaking, this is just like watching porn. No, this is porn. Don't tell me, you're reading this for the story only? You obviously have no idea, just how many people fantasize about these topics. But - CLEARLY - as a fantasy. The human mind is a funny thing when it comes to sexuality and the psychology behind it. For the most part, it happens in your head. You'd be surprised, how many people with issues use this type manga/manhwa to deal with neglected parts of their psyche. And I don't see, where a comic - a fantasy online or on paper - would harm anyone. Those people are neither promoting rape nor are they participating in it. They share their private fantasies with others. If that isn't allowed anymore than you might just put thoughts under criminal investigation.
Yes i agree, its just porn. I dont think it shouldnt be allowed,but its also very irritating when people say that its the plot thats good. Yes i did read this for the story, i wanted to know more about the blond haired guy. As a plot oriented manhwa its shit, but i guess if you were only looking at the porn side of it its understandable how people like it. The reason i have a problem with the way everyone suddenly supports rape in stories is only because while reading i form a sort of bond with the characters. This bond is what keeps me invested and helps me feel what the characters are going through. Its just hard not to feel completely disgusted when people say they love a character but are okay with shit happening to them as long as someone says 'sorry' to them. Overall: i agree with what youre saying, and youve put your point across perfectly, but i still cant begin to put more than a two star rating on the manhwa.
People are loving subae, really ? I should say I'm surprised but I'm not really, lots of yaoi readers do love rapists after all.
Anyway, my main complain about this story is that I could never really understand why and when did the mc and Goong Ha fall in love ? The pacing in this was so weird that it litterally went from them having drunk sex for the first time after just one day of getting to know each other to them being madly in love. Now I understand that good dick can do wonders but as a reader, I'm gonna need more than that.
Oddly enough, the flashbacks were the best part imo but they ended up completely overshadowing the present story. This resulted in weak characters, with weak motives behind their actions, making it hard to care for them and their "love". The sex scenes, while they were well-drawn, fell completely flat for me because I couldn't feel any kind of chemistry between the characters.
Two main conflicts were introduced into the plot : one (mc and sunbae) was resolved pretty satisfyingly, the other (Goong Ha and his highschool love) was completely rushed. I honestly think the two of them had by far the best chemistry out of the couples and I instantly started shipping them, mainly because highschool love and young Goong Ha (who clearly lost all his spice after he grew up, again: WHY ? why wasn't this explained? ) were quite interesting and charismactic characters, unlike the others. However they parted ways following a traumatic event, which could have made for an excellent subplot for the present time, only to get some rushed reunion towards the end. How disappointing.
I could go on and on but you get my point : this manhwa infuriated me because it had way too many loose ends despite its potential. Hopefully the author will improve their storytelling skills in their next project.
