Well sometimes in love or in the heat of moment we made mistake which make us pregnent you are absolutely right it is stupidity but trust me it happens . Emotions sometimes gets the best of you even if you are strong independent women who don't wamt kids.sigh its sad and stupid but it happens.

I am so sorry if something that i said made you feel i was defending myself .because i was not. I just gave my opinion what i was trying to say is reika indeed is a fictional character but she is potrayed as a woman and a human in a manga i did see fiction as only fiction and to me even fictional character can make mistakes .even if they are independent .again i am sorry but i was not defending myself but was just giving my opinion .i won't bother you anymore.it was nice chatting with you thanku .have a nice day.

I took no offense. I was trying to dissipate any offense you might have felt at my comment about Reika. I just tried to put it simply, I wasn't being mean. People usually get upset over things in fiction that they relate to or identify with, I know I do. I didn't want you to think I was judging anyone. I was only talking about how a "heat of the moment decision" didn't fit the way Reika's character was otherwise written. At least, not to me.

Pardon my callousness, but the act of consoling someone is not diminished or improved by the lack of, or use of a condom. Thus, this was a "heat of the moment" response. Which, again, is counterintuitive to the way her character is written elsewhere. Considering her choice to ultimately have an abortion (a serious social stigma in Japan), a character such as hers would not be likely to take that kind of risk from the start. We are all prone to weak moments, but in a character such as hers, that particular moment of weakness doesn't feel realistic. Honestly, it felt like it was picked from the "plot conflict grab bag", rather than carefully considered.

No, you are right. After careful consideration, I remembered this little thing called "the morning after pill" which is available in Japan.
A woman such as Reiko would have been informed about such things and given her being career oriented, she wouldn't have taken any risk and procured herself one.
It's a little detail I failed to notice because I was happy of such a female character that made choices for herself. She wasn't a bully nor was she a bitch. That's not something we usually see in yaoi so that's what sticker with me rather than the lack of continuity in her character rendering her just a plot device
Her character showed such admirable qualities, yet such blatant stupidity. Any mildly intelligent career woman who is not ready for kids and dating a guy she knows doesn't love her, like Reika, would know what a condom is, how to use it and that having sex without one leads to pregnancy. I really liked the way the rest of her character was written. She's strong, sweet, smart and the furthest thing from a pushover. So, her pregnancy, though a good plot motivator, really didn't fit her character. She's smarter than that and she also didn't seem like the manipulative type - like she would use a pregnancy to tie a man down. It just didn't fit right to me.
