1. Because I don't think love triangles are needed to make a story progress.
2.because when you've been (unwillingly) to one is a bad experience. And when A has turned down C multiple times the situation between A + B can become weird , because the other person (B) will be " are you seriously not giving him any hints " why is he still contacting etc etc . But each situation is different I guess.
