One thing I find problematic about this story/characters in general is that it furthers and romanticizes this idea of negative ways men and women interact. From a young age us girls are generally conditioned to be forgiving and to be thoughtful of people, men especially, even when they do dodgy things. For example, I remember when I was younger being very forgiving of habits and characteristics in men that I know now they don't DESERVE your understanding. If you choose to be understanding and thoughtful or give second chances to people that make bad choices or don't consider your feelings that isn't a bad thing, its your choice, but we should not be fooled into thinking that people DESERVE these things or our second chances. We tend to romanticize abusive tendencies and stuff thats just not okay. I know that this manga isn't exactly that (its just bringing this to mind for me), but its still playing into weird stereotypes. I think that there could be a better and healthier storyline without the whole kidnapper trope. I'd like to see a story where the girl takes her own initiative or sets up her own kidnapping or something that is just a little more interesting and plays into different power dynamics. This is just my own personal opinion.

I know that many people don’t like gender role stereotypes but as a girl, I had to learn to accept that I’m never going to be as physically built and as strong as boys. Even though I love stories where the main heroine is a strong a amazing girl (yona of the dawn) they always seem to annoy me on how the lead girl always wants to take things into there own hands and ends up burdening the group in the fight. But of course is forgiven because there girls. Girls body are not as strong and by human nature we will always be nicer and forgiving (not all the time ). Even though this sounds really screwed up, girls should accept that biological we are inferior in strength to boys. Even though we are smarter I just hate when girls talk about how sexist things are when there actually true. Sorry I sound like a total bitch and will make tones of people mad. Don’t get me wrong I percent agree with you and would love to see a non annoying girl mc I the future, your stories ideas would make a great manga. But I don’t like the idea of how your ok with kidnaping as long as a girl does it. (Sorry again for acting like another dumb girl In the comments, I swear I don’t think the earth is flat.

I don't think the problem you have is with strong women but poorly written ones. Yona is far from progressive in terms of female characters. Its in manga a lot that women are designed to be presented as a "strong" female but really they actually get written as being foolhardy and getting in over there heads. That is purposely done to reiterate the same idea you're presenting here. In the show you're talking about Yona constantly acts without really thinking and get herself in trouble so that viewers see men coming to her aid to reaffirm the idea that women just will always need the help of men when it comes down to it, especially in fighting. The stories you're talking about are SUPPOSED to be conservative. Go watch Atomic Blonde or something. A SMART strong girl knows how to fight against multiple stronger men OR use her brain to work the situation out to something she CAN handle. And same thing for men, they get written like they can take a million punches and still be okay. Its shitty writing that is at fault. Yes, the average man (just natural born man, not trained in combat) is stronger than the average woman (non trained in combat). But with training both men and women become stronger and capable of fighting. It will take a girl a lot more to be able to take down 4 guys but she will also learn different fighting techniques. The problem is just shitty writing that is still designed to do the opposite of what it is presenting to do. Also, its manga. From Japan. A place much more conservative than European countries even in the 21st century. Japan is still very sexist, its deeply ingrained into their societies and is reflected even in women's writing.

Atomic Blond was really great but I’m just a shitty yaoi loving girl who has bad taste in everything
