Help me

Ritsu☆ January 2, 2018 5:10 pm

My cousin just started drawing and her drawings aren’t that good (they’re actually bad). I thought I’d be kind and keep complementing her artwork and saying that it’s cool. But now she keeps drawing stuff every minute and showing them to me so I can compliment it and stuff. Like she got to the point that she was about to draw on my wall bc ‘I like her drawings’. I can’t tell her to stop without hurting her feelings so I MIGHT DIE PLEASE HELP ME VSHHVAVUDUBBKWJKSKS

Tell her the truth but you don't have to do it harshly. Give her constructive criticism. Something like: "The arms look good but the figure's head is out of proportion and the eyes aren't the same. It'll take work to get it right but it's a good start."

Something like that could help your cousin without discouraging her from drawing.

"Wow you're getting better and better everytime i see your drawings. I bet you'll be a pro if you practice more!. Aren't you a good girl? Here's a notepad draw here instead of drawing at my wall. I want to keep some of your drawings and show them off to my friends. I can't show your pretty drawings if you draw to my wall right? *kiss her or pich her at cheeks* You're so cute! Draw more for me okay?"

    Yep that should be it.

Lmao thanks but there’s like a 3 year difference between us so that’d be too awkward

Use a +-+ (compliment, fix this, compliment)
If you do it kindly it'll be fine

Throw some paper at her "Here, make your crappy drawings on the shitty 1 dollar printer paper!" (even though that's such a good deal, damn)

Haha no, that's what my dad did to me when I was three. But I was three back then, he wasn't that harsh, no worries. Although it might be good to give her a small sketchbook from a crafts store and some pencils. It's best to give her criticism when she needs it, but try to word it right, if she starts to cry she's either very sensitive for a 12 year old, or you were just too harsh. Tell her to not show you all of her drawings, just say the truth and no beating around the bush.

I'm kind of surprised that she's so confident in her art to the point where she's obsessed with drowning you in it! At her age I had no confidence in my art (Or myself in general) so I'd never show my art to anyone( ̄∇ ̄")

Lolol she actually never dares to show her drawings to anyone, she caught me looking at her sketchbook a couple of days ago but I told her that the drawings were cool. Basically I’m the only one she shows her drawings to. I’ll try pointing out what’s wrong with her drawings or something! (°▽°)

Offer her to take art class if she wants to pursue art. If she agreed then tell her that she shoul expect critical opinion from you. So yeah be mean as you can and kill her dream.
