I believe Veronica shot herself after attempting to shoot Conor so that they could be with each other in heaven.

But she clearly must have seen Simon take the shot himself and yet she shot herself? Doesn't make any sense to me (￣∇￣")

Her plan was murder suicide. She would shoot Conor and then herself, but Simon jumped in the way and took the bullets. She knew her entire facade had crumbled, and she wouldn’t be able to have Conor, so she shot herself.

Good fucking riddance.
