I never understood that either, I mean sure the plot could be a bit gritty and edgy, and main the couple have their share of ups and downs, but I wouldn't call it a tragic story. A tragedy would be if one or both of them really died at the end. But thankfully that didn't happen so happy ending.

Wait I'm confused haha at the end of volume 3 it said they both died during the riot if I remember correctly.. it's been awhile so maybe it was a set up but now I don't know wha to think (╯°Д °)╯
