In the last chapter I thought everything finally made sense. Weird.
As I wrote in my OP, I did want to know because it does explain a lot. But I wish the mangaka had taken more time with each of the MC's backstory and not seemed to squeeze it in between some other stuff that was happening in the present. And taken more time with that separately too.
I felt like there was just a bit too much going on in this last chapter. Not that I didn't want to know, but I felt like it all got a bit rushed and crammed between odds and ends of other bits, and so ended up being a bit confusing. One moment the story would be in one place and time, only the next to jump to somewhere else entirely and then sort of switch back again. Just seemed jumbled.
