I love this book but all they have to do is adopt a child, that's what my best friend did, he and his boyfriend were having the same "problem" less children in orfanages (=・ω・=)

Problem is in Japan they only let hetero couples adopt. They are very strict on what kind of people adopt children, they must be legally married in Japan to even think about adopting a child. In Japan they still haven't legalised gay marriage. So currently these two can't adopt children.

So single parent can’t adopt children as well? If a women/man who doesn’t have any intention to marry but want children they can’t adopt as well?

I thought the same thing but for some people adopting a child and having a blood related child is not the same. It's the perception. And then even if they wanted to adopt, like the other person said earlier, it's very strict. :(

Though that may be true the laws are way more lax when it comes to mixed race and definately foreign children. I'm assuming they're not racist so if they really wanted a kid it could happen

Sadly that's right, if you're a person who's not interested in marriage and wanting to adopt you have to fit a really specific criteria. But even passing that doesn't guarantee your ability to adopt a child. So even if you want to be a single parent the Japanese government is pretty meticulous about the well-being of of the child.
