If this was a shojo u could say the same thing. Plus yaoi isn't ment to represent what being gay truly is it's more of a fetishized story with gay characters.

I totally agree that Yaoi is often fetishizing but some stories are really good and have more plot than super super fetishizing. Also, I just get bad vibes from a story that portrays a gay character as stalking and drugging their straight counterpart.
