He is already afraid of He Tian ( thus his line about the brother that he gives a familiar aura that 'there is danger even with the slightest provocation' --- He Tian does hurt and beats him as any bully does ) and now the poor guy just confirmed He Tian may be linked to mafia. And he got caught spying. Of course his heart is on his mouth.
He doesn't know he's a mafia dude. He is actually totally clueless about that whole situation. Us readers know what he did to Jian and his connections but not Mo. All he knows is they look and have similar auras.

He doesn't know that is mafia but it's not the first time he catches He Tian with sinister people. Remember the first time he went spying on He Tian and saw him interacting with He Cheng? He is clueless but he already associates He Cheng with something evil and scary --- and the familiar aura is of danger. He is clueless to the point that he doesn't know it's mafia but he called them before as 'thugs' and that's why I mentioned mafia. To Mo, the danger feeling is real and that shows that he is not so clueless about what is going on, especially because the first time around He Tian threatened him ( although he didn't know He Tian was messing with him) if he ever mentioned to anyone. That's why he is so scared, He Tian just saw him spying again, the 'thug' is actually someone that looks like He Tian and looks evil.
