The characters have the same names though. That is usually what parallel universes do. Take characters from a different stories and put them in a different realm or story.

I just got done catching myself up with If you hate me that much... late I know. And I started reading this, correct me if I'm wrong, but is this a parallel universe of the story in If you hate me? Because this will give spoilers if it is xD
