
In the original Japanese, his name is ロイス. That’s RO-I-SU. That is the Japanese (katakana) for both "Lois" and "Royce." The first group to translate it went with "Lois," I guess not knowing that Lois is a female name, like Lois Lane. But "Royce" is a male name and is the correct translation. In the book it is written as Royce in English somewhere too. The first group still sticks with "Lois," though.

I've read this so many times and I still don't know why lois/royce is called by both names?? I don't get it...
