Isn't it like humans ? When you say someone has been called out by God, it means that he died, that God decided it was his time to go. It's just a guess, I'm really sure about it either ^^'

When an angel is called by God, the angel loses all human emotion and thus devotes themselves to service to God. So if they felt love, joy or anything akin to that, they will lose that feeling, so that when they return to God they have no more attachments. So in Monday's case, his father being called to heaven meant, he forgot is love for his family and left them because he now only needs to devote himself to God.
