That guy supposedly caused Yohan to go deaf though, and she did say she'd protect her son, so I doubt there are loving feelings between the mother and Yohan.

My money's on the brother having a thing for Yohan since the mom's sees him as a son too supposedly. Maybe she accepted him because the son grew a liking for him?
