I'll try to give some answer for ya. As far as I know, China is still believe that homosexual was a very taboo things to begin with, especially elder people. You'll be discriminated by public even your family. I saw that from one of China's youtube reality show. But recently I heard a news that some of homosex communities in China are fighting for same-sex marriage to be a legal marriage. Correct me if I'm wrong (///∇///)

Thank you. This is so sad tho. I wish we can live in a world where homophobic and racist people don't exist. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

I agree with you, but I think they have a lot of yaoi novels and some mangas too. I wished there wasn't censorship :c

It’s not just in China. Most Asian countries have very traditionalistic views (yes, even Japan) that are still being upheld today. They’re just not as progressive as Western countries in that aspect.

I feel like it’s because of the difference in cultures. Correct me if I’m wrong, but most Western countries’ societies value independence, and are centered around younger people, right? This causes the general public to be more progressive (pro-gay, pro-choice, gender equality, etc.) On the other hand, most Asian countries value unity (for example China is a communistic country), and are centered around the elders (they’re more important in a way), so the public’s views aren’t as progressive. However, that has been changing for the past several decades for the better :)

Also, in China yaoi=porn for the most part (that’s kinda true tbh), and China’s all about anti-porn rn ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Yes you are very correct. However japan is unlikely to ban yaoi or yuri and korea is finally moving forward with lgbt, you can see it in their reality shows (they got gay comedians and straight men don't mind it unlike America) and lezhin comics finally having bl stuff on there. yeah lezhin is absolute shit to their mangaka's but all the companies in korea is like that e.g kpop idol get treated like shit, comedians in reality tv shows get treated like shit. So lezhin didn't ban the mangas just because of homosexuality. In a way, its kinda optimistic but still the mangaka pour their dreams into this and shouldn't be banned.

Wherease in japan, there is no advancement at all. E.g look at yoneda sensei, she is a complete mastermind and genius at writing yaoi plots and giving the audience what they need. However the latest chapter is only 13 pages long. Its because yashiro has been put back on the shelf and shes been approached by a magazine that sell seinen.

'' it’s a huge chance for her to publish a seinen manga! Seinen, Shounen and Shoujo manga sell way better than BL in general. Saezuru is one of the most popular BL series in Japan. Volume 5 sold between 35,000 and 40,000 copies in the week it came out if I remember correctly. That’s not bad. But volume 88 of One Piece for example sold 1,3 million copies in one week! So getting approached by a magazine like Evening was an offer that Sensei could hardly refuse.''

I wish yaoi sold as much as these genres because the plot in this this yaoi genre is brilliant and there is such a depth in this genre,it is very vast. Even if some troops are overused, Its written very well in a way that you don't mind at all. However yaoi mangaka don't make much living out of it. Its because of japan hostile views towards homosexuality and people are less likely to pick up a book in the yaoi shelf at a bookstore. Its really sad, I hope it changes in the future, especially when yaoi plots are so brilliant as yoneda sensei but they don't even sell that well,. It hurts when I see crappy shoujo and hentai mangas being sold at a greater price than yaoi just because it is controversial in society. Love should be love.

However china is just going backwards, shitty country.
