It would be a shame if the series used the tedious "memory loss' trope and it doesn't really fit in with the more realistic theme. Rather than take it literally, Shang was probably just depressed that because they are not in the same country anymore their relationship has become strained as expected and it's hard to maintain a connection and be each others priorities. We don't actually know how many months, or even years it has been since they left school, or Mi Xi's perspective. Knowing that Mi Xi could have been away for 5 years at this point for example, with limited contact could explain Shang's insecurity and loneliness.

Hopefully, but it would unfortunately be more realistic if they grew apart and finished their relationship simply due to the logistics of being separated. Also I think this series is trying to show the transition of being a teenager, in school where you have your life planned for you, and your friends are all in the same building as opposed to growing older and relationships you had in that environment naturally coming to an end or no longer being a priority due to more mundane things such as no longer having as much free time due to work or study commitments.

Sadly I agree with you cause it just really is the reality of relationships.. But you know a part of me wants this just bit more “fairytale-like” where the love they had for one another at that phase and stage in life lasts till death parts them since it’s a fictional story. Haha in any case, this is still an interesting manhua that I look forward to (▰˘◡˘▰)
I don’t know why but I just have this weird feeling of what if Mi Xi had an accident overseas and lost his memories of Shang? Shang’s internal monologue of whether Mi Xi still remembers the promise they made somewhat gave me a bitter aftertaste, like a foreshadowing of an imminent end.. Though, I genuinely hope I’m wrong and am just thinking too much. Hmm.. but on the same note, will this then set the pace for, perhaps, romantic development between Shang and the new guy? ‘Cause right now we still ain’t sure if the new guy is a new mc or just a secondary protagonist to add competition and create conflict between Shang and Mi Xi, thus strengthen the feelings they have for each another (=・ω・=)
