Imma break down his sentence guys

Okay I'll only say how long he'll get in American prison if he killed on of them. Keep in mind he's not a minor here.

A charge of first degree murder: at least 10 years since he has a clean record

A charge for attempted murder: up to life

False testimony charge: at most one year in prison and up to 4,000 fine

Tampering with physical evidence (third degree felony): 2-10 year imprisonment and up to 10,000 dollar fine.

He should have 17 years and charged and about a 5,500 dollar fine most likely MORE so lets say 23ish years it's up to the judge though. He will most likely make a plead and his time will be reduce back to 17 years but the charge will be 4,500 since he is young and has a clearn record. Soo...

The bastard would get 23 years in prison with the possibility of parole in about 5-7 years, and a fine of 5,500. If I was the judge at least all judges are different.

    That sounds like a perfectly good judgement bc it's one thing to mess up and then have to deal with its consequences, but another to try to cover your ass by killong someone who came to help you out

    My hobby is looking through historical records and learning weird things about American history which includes law. Not a lawyer but rather a historian wannabe

    Your facts are more or less right, We use the common law here, we have 2 type of law here FEDERAL and STATE law.
    EXAMPLE of FEDERAL law:
    * Any case with SSI.
    * Anti-discrimination and civil rights against race, gender, sex and disability.
    * Copy and Patent law.
    * Mass amount of killing related to the country itself.
    Federal law also uses different punishment (usually more extreme) then state law.
    But in jiho case he attempted to kill 2 civilian, so it will fall under state law.
    Now you have to take into account which state you are in.
    A lot of southern state still uses the death penalty.
    Not every states has the same punishment for the crime.
    I live in New York state, so I will use the NY state penal law.
    Murder in the first degree is a class A-I felony.
    Penal Law ›Part 3 › Title H ›Article 125 > Section (S) 125.27.
    Punishment up to a life sentence with a minimum of between 15 and 40 years.
    Since this is his first offense, the lawyer could try to bring it down to a manslaughter in first degree
    which is a B felony section (S) 125.20.
    Punishment up to 25 years in prison with a minimum of between one year to one-third of the maximum sentence given.
    Attempted murder in second degree (there is no such thing as attempt murder in first degree and most states don't have attempted felony-murder) is also a B felony section (s) 125.25.
    punishment same as above.
    False testimony charge AKA perjury law charges.
    Perjury is section (S) 210.30 from the penal law.
    This is kind of lengthy because there is first degree, second degree, and third degree and they all have different punishment.
    Since he only lied oral and did not write anything, its a third degree perjury Class A misdemeanor;
    Punishment up to 1 yr. in prison and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
    Tempering with physical evidence is second degree perjury Class E felony;
    Punishment up to 4 yrs. (and at least 1 yr.) in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
    Now if you add all those sentences together is a lot (My brain hurts from math).
    Since this is his first crime, he could get a good plead bargaining. Plus, it also depends on (mostly) juror (juror are regular everyday U.S civilian) and judge. Are they sympathetic or not etc.
    Not all the inmate finish there sentences, they usually get out after doing 1/4 of it with good behavior.
    SORRY! for writing so much, I though you would be interested.
    Sorry! about my grammar and things even though I am American and English is my first language, I was raised in 4 different country, so my English is SO-SO.

    I was using simple federal law and Texas state law for you information, I should have told you sorry. Your information is so much more detailed than mine I'm so impressed to be honest. I was just wiping my comment together because I use an iPad and it would take forever to type everything I know out but even then it would be as detailed as yours is which is really cool. I kind which I did spend more time on the comment know though instead of simplifying it because now with the lack of more information I just sound foolish eh? And about you English there is nothing wrong with it so you didn't have to worry about that. That being said I really need to learn more so I don't give any more minimal information on the topic.

    Thank you but I was actually impressed by you. My information was in detail because I am a law student but you other hand have no legal work background but did amazing job. Learning is great, if you don’t mind I would recommend you to take some law classes in nearest university or community college especially criminals law and procedures. I thought the class was informative and new. Good Job haha
