I wouldn't say it's an open ending. It is very very very heavily implied that Mono and Baron end up together or will at least pursue each other in the future. they've loved each other for so long I think it's time we let them be happy after everything they've been through...

Maybe you should read the last chapter again. If you really like Lego you should want him to be happy. Rose said the next time he'll fall for someone who loves him back and mum said she wanted to write extras about Lego (I think?). Lego's gonna find that special someone!
