Yeah, that's pretty much his only purpose in this story. He's one of the main characters in another story by this author and you can see YuYang as a side character in that one. So it's kind of carrying over their relationship from that story without really explaining it here. His background doesn't really matter here tho, just that fact that YuYang has been crushing hard for a while by Lin Xiang already has a bf
