You're claiming its a CRUSH, when you don't even know if it is one... Maybe he's actually in love with him? Still pining for someone isn't necessarily bad and shows even more that its not JUST a "crush". "Letting" someone ruin his life? Nobody really WANTS to let somebody else ruin their life and sometimes you can't help it--its called mourning or being in a state of sadness for a period of time. You say "Big boy" as if that means anything. You can be so mature and still feel pain and longing for someone or have a hard time of letting go. Fluctuating? Lihuan isn't even his bf, so what are you talking about? Nonexistent bullies? we don't even know if they are and from that little scene it seemed like they WERE up to something. When has he tried to make everyone happy in a bad way? There's no time limit to learning from mistakes or just general behaviors done in the past. There's no time limit on love so you saying he knew lin xiang from a few months mean nothing--People can fall in love as fast at a few hours to years.
