What I was getting at is that the comic is set in Korea, not Japan or China for that matter... Also, Chinese shishi and Korean haetae are Buddhists but Japanese komainu are Shintoists! XD So, since the set is in Korea, the curse is probably from some failed to be Buddha?
Im not sure they didnt state but I thonk its the deity gods buddha is a humam like statue but over here its a tiger:/ my temple has plenty of this kind of statue so Im guessing he kicked the deity gods which is 7 years of bad luck ;;
