Why do people hate ma sangtae?

I don't hate him, but is hard to like him, and it's still annoying if you put yourself in Jinwoo's shoes. Besides, taking the credit for something Jinwoo did all the work for isn't funny(not even in universe), neither is taking a photo of him butt naked and then humiliating him. I'm sure the author will try to make Sangtae's character more sympathetic with his backstory,but at the moment he's still a jerk, comedy or not.

He could have said something. If he's that capable and reliable, maybe people would believe what he said. And there was no need to rub it on Jinwoo's face.

I disagree entirely... Sure, there're SOME moments where he is just teasing Jinwoo, but those parts aren't the parts that make everyone hate Ma and make it obvious that he's a little bit of a douche. There are moments where he literally just speaks out of spite despite not knowing Jinwoo's condition. There was the part where Jinwoo's boss gave full credit on the project to Ma and Ma rubbed it in Jinwoo's face, etc. As far as him "not knowing about the fantasies", that is a popular excuse, but doesn't change the fact that they ARE still HIS fantasies and they aren't just a minor inconvenience to Jinwoo, they're LITERALLY crippling. Even in real life, if you found out that something of yours, like your dog tearing up your neighbor's yard while you were at work, inconvenienced someone you'd apologize because it is still indirectly your fault. That's what the people who use that argument ignore, their isn't just one type of "fault", indirect fault is a very commonplace thing. Like everyday commonplace. Examples are your animals keeping your neighbors up, your kids knocking things down in the store leaving a mess for the employees, etc. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

But he didn't actually accepts the credit he was given, he doesn't say it directly because if he does he is basically denying aloud that he isn't the character his mother wants him to be, and the coward in him would pretend that he is the perfect person. However, he questions people's praises to him such as when they called him perfect, he laughed at the praise in his mind because he knew for a fact that isn't who he is. He doesn't clarify that he isn't that amazing man because he is too much of a scaredy cat to let his mother's expectations down. I do agree the photo thing is too much but i'm pretty sure it is the comedic part in this comic, seeing how the jinwoo isn't really that affected (if you compare it to real life, do you think anyone would be that calm? It is just how the author pokes fun and makes light of the story) Anyway, he doesn't really do much about the photos, he doesn't spread it nor blackmail (correct me if im wrong)

Hmm about the dog example, i dont think it applies to this the same way, like if you own a dog u have the responsibility to be liabke for what the dog does, however his sexual fantasy isn't something that ma sangtae can ever expect to affect someone. Furthermore, jinwoo was cursed because he vomited on the holy statue thing, i dont think sangtae should need to be held liable for that... i mean, he should feel guilty that jinwoo is suffering becauze of him AFTER he knows about the uncontrolable fantasies but as of now, i don't think it is very reasonable for him to need to reflect since he doesn't jnow what is going on. I still fully agree that he really needs to reflect and make a sincere apology to jinwoo, but as of now i don't find him to be a jerk. I think of him as cowardly, but I still do find him nice,he just needs to stop pretending to be his mother's standard of perfection and be himself

I actually agree, i don't think he should be held liable for the visions until he finds out about them. What i meant is that they are HIS fantasies so he should have to apologize, naturally AFTER he finds out. I disagree that the dog example doesn't fit, i find it to be very similar actually. Think about it, you don't know the damage your dog has done till you get home and your neighbor tells you, you then apologize. Sangtae doesn't know the damage his fantasies are doing, but when Jinwoo tells him he is expected to apologize. As far as him "never expecting the fantasies to give anyone trouble", you don't assume your dog is going to give your neighbors trouble either assuming it isn't a little shit. If your dog is behaved you don't leave the house thinking "man, i hope he doesn't destroy the neighbors yard". The reason i don't like him right now isn't because of the stuff he is UNAWARE of, it's because of the stuff he has said and done to Jinwoo. The fantasies are on the back burner for now. I didn't like how he called Jinwoo his "plaything" to his friends. I didn't like how he talked shit to Jinwoo after their bosses gave all the project credit to Sangtae. I didn't like the very beginning where Sangtae clearly pushed Jinwoo down on purpose and talked shit before offering him a hand up. I didn't like how, each time Jinwoo gets in trouble because of the fantasies, Sangtae always has some SCALDING shit to say to Jinwoo despite not knowing it's his indirect fault. There is a lot to dislike Sangtae over even putting the fantasies aside...
