The problem isn't the character having flaws. The problem is the story not acknowledging that they are flaws and instead brushing off the bordeline rape that happened here.

I mean this is just the start of the story, usually character development happens in chapter 30 or something.
Besides, Alex feeling Jealousy is one step forward. Sooner or later he'll apologize for borderline raping poor DG and admits that he was being a stupid idiot.
