Could be a them, and the stereotype is to try to label demons as if they’re humans but in real demonology they can appear as whatever they want so the author could be going off of that.

I’m pretty sure when I saw them in demon form they took on a (male). Look. But they shift to what they want.
This Mariam's friend,the other demon,is it a guy or a girl,in the office he looked and was dressed as a man,but in the street it looked and was dressed as a woman,and as a demon it also looks as both male/female.it's not that i have something against that,i just dislike using "it"on people,i just don't know to call it a he or she?
