Read volume two in another language and yes, he definitly lost his edge because he's happier (and he's a puppy type of lover).
On the other hand Kon seems to smile more mostly because alcohol makes him jolly.
i feel like in volume 2 hayawaka lost his “coolness” that he had in volume 1. but maybe that’s because he’s happier in volume 2
