There is also the whole cultural thing of doing what is best for the group, not for the individual. If it's for family, you do a stiff upper lip and what is expected. Just because he doesn't say anything, doesn't mean he isn't hurting. It just means he is putting his families happiness in front of his own.
Man, some of these comments are hitting the mark here. It's like, just because Satoshi doesn't say anything, it's just taken for granted that he's okay with everything. And even when the mom realized he was being too considerate, what happened? Nothing. Everything was just left as is and Satoshi is left to silently try to deal with things on his own and hide everything without so much as a friend to turn to, let alone a brother. He really should have stayed with his grandpas. Just because someone seems fine on the outside, doesn't mean that they are. But such is fiction.. no drama = not much of a story...
