I guess, knotting in omegaverse means that the omega is "married" to the alpha or something? 'Cuz in the other omegaverse yaoi, we have 'biting at the back of omega's neck' to form a bond. Maybe, knotting relates to bonding and getting pregnant.

But most of the time is it either "its just something that happens sometime to alphas", "alphas only knott when they are doing it with their mate for the first time" or "alphas do it to form a bond with their partner". Its also because of its nature related to getting pregnant, since its purpose is to enhance the chances of their partner getting pregnant :)
