The new boyfriend seems like he is just spoiling her rather than teaching her any life skills. That tomato incident, where she didn't have to learn to accept what her dad had given her ie the basic normal tomato, and instead the new boyfriend went off and spent more money buying cute cherry tomatoes and plastic cases and decorations. Thereforefore potentially meaning she associated food with such faff and needing everything to be cut up for her, or 'mini" versions so in the long term leading to more refusals, as no parent is going to live up to such standards at every meal and snack, whereas for the boyfriend he still thinks looking after the child is new and a novelty, and is trying to please her (and the dad).
(Probably thought too much about this though) ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I think the reason is because he has to deal with her alone and he doesn't know how to do that at all (as seen in previous chapters), causing her to lack discipline. Though her behavior is perfectly normal for her age, that's how kids are, it's very rare to have such well behaving children. And spoiling children every so often is necessary as well ^_^

To be fair their is a difference in taste, like I can't handle normal raw tomato (can if cooked) but I can have raw cherry tomato.
+ from what I could see they didn't have any utensils (since bf bought plastic knife) so she was going to have to eat it like a fruit. And while I know it technically is one, how many girls would want to be taking bites out of overly juicy fruits that could totally stain their clothes blood red when they are hanging out with their girlfriends playing princess (i presume since that was the doll type)?
Also, the bf won't complain if she becomes overly picky and spoilt since that makes more opportunities for him to interact with the dad. So to him it's a win win....and some time soon I presume the dad might also enjoy find such reasons good excuses to meet up (if he's the type to be troubled going after his own "reasons").

Yeah, I know it was only one or two fictional incidents, but over anaylising something to death is the purpose of the comments section :). Just, seeing her refusing to eat her snack and then being appeased after this fuss had being made of her new snack being made "cute" and bite sized, seemed a bit counter productive in the long term. Having kids only be able to eat fruit if it has been cut up (when they are passed the toddler stage where everything is a choking hazard) , and needing it to be presented in a "girly" box with all these decorations sort of goes against advice, and is not sustainable for the dad. Meaning the dad is likely to be faced with his daughter refusing more of her food, and the new boyfriend is made to look wonderful because on the few occasions he meets up with them, he is able to create these wonderful, well presented meals/snacks. I understand the purpose of his action, but it came off as a bit misguided to present the dad as being the one in the "wrong'.

I never really saw it as the dad being "wrong", just the usual dad hasn't yet gotten the groove of single parenting. Kinda like in those American movies where the child (especially daughter) is randomly dumped in the (somehow) single fathers care where he had no experience.
It is clear this situation isn't one that has lasted for years as he is still trying to get the knack, it's just that unlike those movies where the dad has to find the grove himself, here the bf appeared within the transition phase with all the necessary (or excessive) skills to help.
There is also the fact that since bf is a kids product salesperson his general approach to dealing with kids may be affected to automatically go kiddie product promotion style as a habit. Since that's the only/main method he would know to get kids to be good or cheer them up.
Though I do agree that the message isn't the best, but the path and result are understandable. Essentially they all just have a lot to grow in regards to the family dynamic.
THAT BLONDE IS EYE CANDYY!! ughhhh just look at him in that suit and with that hair and that somewhat expressionless face!!! I'm imagining him as the Uke, and he's one sexy bottom!ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
And also, after reading BL's with only cute and well behaving kids ... Like Sachimo's kids from Kashikomarimashita, Destiny or Asou Kai's Chizu from Sorenari no Shinken ... (If you don't know Chizu then your missing out on the cutest kid ever) Yena seems to be such a brat?? Like this is probably a preeetty realistic depiction of a little (and spoiled since daddy has dat MONEYY) girl, but PLEASE calm that kid down! (⊙…⊙ )
