Aaahhhh because at that time luffy couldn't possibly died since he's the mc and have the strongest plot shield, so Ace was the one that died to further the plot and developed luffy's character? Maybe, but Oda probably did that for extra drama or to subvert readers' expectations. Since before marineford oda has never killed his characters unless it's flashback. Ace's death is still a personal sore spot for me so i'm kinda testy about it, sorry for sounding kinda annoyed. But i get what you're saying now hehehe
