I thought so too. Someone said Sangwoo might have been abused (ya know...in a sexual way) by his mom. But honestly, I don't think so. I strongly believe his mom thought Sangwoo as a replacement for his father and projected on Woo all the attentions she did't have from her husband. That should explain all the weird attachment. The last part about the "secret"...man, Idk what to think. Either she wanted to kill her husband and was planning to kill hersef and Woo afterwards or it's something worse.
I don't think so either that his mom abused him in that way, but she really was over protective, like trying to keep safe the only good thing and turns out the other way, taking Sangwoo a replacement. About the secret, it could be just something in her mind like she has a new husband (sangwoo) or planning to kill the man bc she had bruises in her face. it was the husband or sangwoo himself beating his mother.

I'm probably overthinking abou it, but something smells about the whole situation. If Sangwoo's father was the abuser, why does he murder girls only? And another thing is: in his memories his father is an old disgusting man, while in this chapter we see that he's not and he also seemed somewhat nice. Also when Bum sliced his own wrist and they went in the bedroom, the one who was tormenting and scaring Woo was his mom, and not his dad. We really never saw some sort of trauma his dad caused, only his mom's. That's why I'm starting to believe his dad was not the main reason of his behaviour. His mom was way overattached to him and seemed pretty insane to me, and we all saw that Woo was kind of akward around her. I think that it's true she was abused by her husband but she also did something horrible at some point. I fear the way we're going...
