When I was a child I couldn't properly pronounce two consonants in my language - Ř and R. I learned how to say Ř but up until now (24 yo) I am so lame in pronouncing R properly. I do not stutter or something like that, I think the proper verb is burr, I burr. So I can relate with Ruri-kun, people can be unexpectedly mean and bully you all the time because of that...
