Unless the creator decides to go in a different direction, based on what's happened so far, this next stage will be quite hard for both of them if "they are meant for each other".
Son Yeonduk has moved on. He is it peace with himself, Skyler, and the past, as much as he can be. He's in a new environment experiencing the best school years of his life since elementary. He's well-liked, respected, and his closest friend here is the hot supportive boyfriend of any gender's dream. He can't replace Skyler but the fact is he has likely never mistreated Yeonduk either. He has never made Yeonduk feel hated, small, ignored.
Yeonduk's home life is also probably much improved with Skyler's manipulative Mum out of their lives.
If Skyler has grown up at all and truly likes Yeonduk (which I believe he has), his primary goal will be Yeonduk's happiness. He won't be eager to disrupt Yeonduk's life so easily. He is also dealing with a lot of self-loathing at the moment. Will he think that he's good enough for Yeonduk?
Frankly, I think he needs more counselling before he gets with anyone or that self-hate, and insecurity will make him controlling and constantly overreact. (But in BL that behaviour is often presented as a sign of True Love so who knows.) Either way, I don't see how it can be easy unless we get a rushed ending.
I have high hopes for the author-nim. So far the story has been progressing in a promising manner. I believe whatever happens next won't follow typical problematic BL tropes. Unless, of course, like u said that we get a rushed ending.

I wouldnt mind if we have this kindnof ending lol. I think that Skyler needs to learn how to forgive himself first before seriously pursuing Yeonduk (▰˘◡˘▰)
I feel like it's all going up from here onwards. The biggest obstacles are cleared up. Now it's just up to these two lovable idiots to figure out that they are meant for each other. (=・ω・=)
