He has a reason for being this way and, so, if he was all quiet and calm, after, y'know being bullied both at his old and new school, betrayed twice by two different people, brainwashed and manipulated, having bones broken in his body on a daily basis, confronting other bullies all on his own (with no help from anyone INCLUDING Sera, except on accident or by making things worse both times because of something she CHOSE to do) until after the final straw (betrayal by Arlo) when Remi and Blyke FINALLY tried to do something for him AND being nearly killed twice at Welleston, I would loathe his clichéd, boring ass character. Thx.

really don't get what ur comment was trying to get at? i like u, read the whole manga and maybe i didnt explain why i wrote what i wrote, but i read exactly the same thing u read (and didnt need the summarization), and i stand by my original statement that John is too extreme, yeah he was powerful and maybe he was justified almost annihilating all his classmates in the old school because he felt betrayed, but also because he was ambushed, but if u will recall he was a dick - to those that were trying to warn him, only because he physically could.
which tells me that when he was at his old school, he treated kids with lessers powers like dirt - cause in his eyes they didnt count (no different than anyone else with powers). that's why his dad wrote the book dah!
but when he joined the new school he didnt have to act like a "normal"- i.e. someone without powers. if he wanted (being as strong as he is) he could've chosen to be different and show the other - new - students that even though u have powers, it doesn't make u better or give u the right to treat those who don't have any, like dirt. but he chose to "hide", and his act at being powerless was more repentance, out of shame and guilt for what he did in the previous school. and cause this powerless kid isn't really him the second he got triggered his true "monster" self emerged.
and yeah the whole attitude towards people without abilites is f*cked-up but that's the concept of this world, and one would this that the teachers, the school - Educational system would try not only teaching banal subjects but teach student to respect each other, and not be physically violent towards anyone, let alone someone that powerless against u.
so yeah u can say that oh boo hoo Sera being his friend didnt help him or Arlo betrayed him etc etc... but he is stronger then everyone and doesn't need their help. what's more he could learn from the past and the guidance given to him by his father through the book to help him evolve as a person and think and help others - does he?!? even now that Sera is helpless does he help her? no. he rather try to force, coerce and compel Arlo into helping.
and i don't think anyone of the characters r boring, loads r flawed and i would love that they would evolve and come together to help others but that will take time. i wrote specifically about John because he is the lead and as the lead i just expected him to be better.
and this fact makes it hard to really like his character, but i hope that he - like the others will not only grow, but maybe all the high-tear kids will at long last start freaking talking to each other and come together, as a group. Strength in numbers and all that... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
