I don't necessarily think they're slow, it may seem that way because the chapters haven't really been on them recently but they progress a lot (considering its slow burn). I mean to me, both couples are slow as a whole because the story itself is slow burn but I don't view the main couple as slower than them, they've literally gone on a date and jian yi confessed and xi kissed him on the head. even most recently when he let jian yi know he didn't want to be part from him in high school and hugged him (≧∀≦)
personally for me, their backstory is sweet and touching together, xi being the little knight in shining armor for jian yi who was cruelly bullied and even to this day he still so sternly protects hims. independently though.. the only thing I think that lacks is xi's backstory, which I don't think the author really delves into. If i'm not wrong we have a backstory for each character but him so i would be interested in seeing that and more of his point of view in general. just my opinion though
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ <3

I still like Xi and Jian Yi ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I like both couples equally and find them both interesting in their different ways. Even though the author hasn't focused on them in a while I still enjoy them each time we see them like I do for He Tian and Mo. ^-^

Same. I was never really all that interested in Jian Yi. He encompasses what I despise in the typical bl characters. Overly feminine, crybaby, one track mind. He has no layers. He just wants to fuck Xi. Meanwhile He Tian wants to help Mo and change his delinquent ways so he doesn't end in the gutter. And Mo wants to help his mom. They are more rich characters with detailed backstories.

“cry baby” lmao we’ve seen mo cry wayyyyyyy more than jian yi so LOL at this comment hypocrisy at its finest

For legit traumatic reasons. Yi cries over literally anything and everything. The rest of the post still stands. Him and Xi have the weaker backstories and character motivations. Especially Xi since he is literally just the kind best friend there to support Yi. He has no plot of his own unlike Mo and He Tian who both have ongoing plots and backstories intersecting. There's a reason he's the least popular of the 4.

nah, i wouldn’t say the rest of the post still stands at all. are you seriously trying to imply that jian yi cries for no reason??? he has been shot at, cruelly bullied, been called abnormal for being gay, kidnapped twice, his father abandoned him, and his mother is hardly ever there. i’d say those are legitimate reasons to cry. you’re just reaching so hard to prove mo is better when he isn’t. brighter is better over the other. if you prefer one over the other okay. but the reasons you chose were still highkey hypocritical.
xi’s background is lacking (i agree) but that’s because the author never wrote his.
she has written jian yi’s though and very well to A LOT of people. anyways this isn’t a popularity contest.
i was simply just addressing your hypocisy in terms of your reasons for hating jian yi for the exact same reasons anyone could hate mo, and yet you love him... so it screams hypocrisy. if you had valid reasons, it’d be different.
Man honestly idgaf about the main couple anymore. I like them, but distantly. They're so slow -_-
He Tian and Mo are more interesting. Their backstory is better and touching. They appear to have more emotional development than Yan Ji and XiXi. Am I the only one?
