Some things about romance manga

It’s all cliche. It’s all the same. I’ve read a lot of yaoi manga (A LOT) and I’m usually just in it to see the sex scenes but I can appreciate a good plot as well. But most of the manga I’ve read recently are cliche. Take this storyline for example: Uke has feelings for Seme. Seme doesn’t feel the same cause of past relationship cliche. After uke figures this out he denys having feeling cliche, but after spending lots of time together and finally understanding seme’s backstory he confesses again cliche. After spending a lot of time together seme realizes feeling for uke and all that jazz. It’s all so predictable. Add this formula to some hot boys and a somewhat interesting background and BOOM! Fangirls! Like the characters themselves are cliche like the best friend character. Idk maybe I’ve grown outta this phase... It’s just... So cliche. And the relationships are unrealistic. Am I the only one who feels this? I wanna hear some opinions :/

Well ive never heard of a plot like that but it does sound boring. The most cliche mangas I have ever read were usually djs. I don’t even search for them anymore cuz the way the actual characters talk is usually so different from the dj authors write

Yeah, i have to agree with you. Most of the manga are really chiché, unfortunately. Also, some do portray unrealistic relationships, but i guess that is a bit bound to the genre itself…(not saying it's every single one, of course).
Even if it's like that i still believe there are a lot of mangas that show the real struggles of a relationship and what it really takes for it to stay healthy, as well as, on the other end, having great works that are unique (fetishes and all those kinds of stuff), and that it still works without getting all creepy ^^
In the end, i guess the conclusion i can draw is that the number of yaoi mangas that have those clichés if far superior to the one of those that are more natural, but they still do exist (though they are too hard to find, sometimes you just randomly come across a true masterpiece) (●'◡'●)v
