What he meant there was their promise of having no secrets between them. Nemu knows Maya would spend most of his time with Ruka now with his new career. And he sees Maya enjoying it, therefore leading him to think that Maya might one day think Nemu is boring and leave him behind to go on with Ruka. Ruka's scene with Nemu just added more to his anxiety and insecurity. Thus leading to the events of the latest chapter.
(I kinda understand Nemu coz I went through this phase before, 'till I got used to the idea that people will always leave me at some point).
