Actually depending on if under-age it can be very hard to get hired. Especially if you don't have I.D., contact number or address. I know 'cause I took in someone who was homeless due to bigoted homophobic parents. It was confusing and took quite abit to get them all sorted if they hadn't had someone/somewhere then just like many "street kids" (hate that term it's so cute hiding what it really is abandoned, abused scared hungry homeless children.)
They may have had to resort to prostitution. If you are cold and or starved you'd be surprised what you will do to survive.
