I don't know about this strange japanese way of thinking that liking sweet stuff is girly, or makes you look cute... Or pathetic? I don't know how to explain it, but I've seen this in several mangas. Does that happen in real life or is it just a manga thing? Because it's stupid... Aside from that, I liked this manga, Arihara is so cute!!

    Maybe it’s because almost all types of sweets in Japan is designed and packaged cutely so it is associated with femininity. And the sweet taste itself is associated with kiddy taste, so perceived as less manly.
