Based on what is said in the MCs extra, about why he took the vampire's soul and if he doesn't break it, he won't die, I think the purple-haired guy did the same 'cause he fell in love with the guy. So, he is alive.

If a soul is taken from a human the body would crumble to dust. He just keep his soul crystal to keep him for all eternity instead of eating it.
That's what I think at least.
