It actually meant something.
I mean, I respect your opinion, but like i said, he deserved the rest.
All throughout this thing, I was (and am) an avid supporter of Ryan. He IS a complex character, he DID good and bad. . . but at the end, i think and, in my opinion, that's what he wanted. I am not talking from a writer-worthy POV, I'm writing in the character-related one. He said it many times, he was tired. He only wanted to rest.
After so many years of life, can you really blame him?
I think his death was not pointless, either.
He helped with the whole plot in a lot of ways, he helped characters get together. The solution is, at my understanding, his doing too. . . I mean, add that weight to his load and my point remains, Ryan deserved happiness but I think he got what he wanted at the end.
Could it have been avoided? Of course. But at what cost? He was not "happy" anymore. Sure, he loved Lucaon, he loved Sihan as his own, but he also lost many things. That's no life. Not after aaaaaaall those years.
As much as I love him and i wish for a life instead of a death, I can't really say it's pointless.
again I ask, how is his death change anything other then them just forget about him and move on? and I"m not just saying it cause I love Ryan, he help the "plot" when he was "alive" but after his death what did it change in anyone? how did it help anyone else?
again if he was tired, he could have just kill himself and it would be the same. but it won't change the fact that his death was pointless other then for character no one care about.
so yeas his death was kind of pointless and we could get the same ending even if he was alive. and the fact the main "villan" just gone with no reason does not help in this case.
he actually didn't help the main characters get together or the solution, cause they forget about his death pretty fast and it didn't change their character. they would have get together has I said, even if he would stay alive and the solution would have been the same.
cost of nothing, cause again nothing change XD they just forget about it and move on. like the event never happen.
again I"m not saying he should have live forever, but the way he have just kill off with no meaning at all to the plot or character's is actually worse. he could of died after they get together, and again, it would have been the same result only with much more meaning.
So. . . what's really your point? I honestly don't get you.
Your problem is HOW he died? In which case. . . I think this is a best-case-scenario. He died peacefully. Remember that time he was, literally, stabbed with a sword? That'd have been an ugly death. Full of pain and whatnot. You mentioned suicide as well. . . why? That wouldn't change a thing. Your point here is, in my perspective, that he needed to die a painful death by your standards? Because I don't agree.
People can't get stuck on a death. People can't mourn forever.
He did help, his solution is his doing (if I understood differently, you're free to correct me but) and his death hurt the ones around him. Lucaon, Sihan and Cecilia. Those were/are his people. Were you expecting a wider range? Because I don't think that's necessary.
Didn't you read how Lucaon reacted? That's pain. How Sihan expressed it? That's pain. Didn't you see how Cecilia reacted at the end? How they hugged? That's pain.
And saying no one cares about the main characters is just your opinion. We're all here for a reason, after all ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
what I"m saying is that the way he just kill off, by the villan that have no purpose either by the way, and the fact the author show that "oh it's fine, he wanted to die", is not a way to handle the story. at least not in a good way. it only leave with a bad teaste after that cause it feel like his death have no meaning other then to create pointless drama everyone will forget about, inculde the main character's after ONE chapter only.
so I make it short, how do you do a death of a character have a meaning? and boy there is a lot to talk about there. there is so MANY ways to do a death of character, even if it wasn't a main character, have a meaning even after their death. for a good example I gave you danganronpa and how they did the death there but there is many other books.
why do I say it? cause again, if the death or the event was pointless, you might has well skip it and the end will be the same. if you can skip events, what even the point? has people I seen done here, they skip all Ryan story and come back only for the main character's story. did they miss anything? sadly, I admit I can't say they did miss anything cause nothing seem to happen cause of Ryan death, nothing change. and the main character's didn't change by his death, yeas they were "sad" for one chapter, but that about it. if you skip the chapter they were "sad", you won't see any change in the main character's, they never think or mantion him ever again. it felt such a bad teste cause it felt like a cheap way to create drama for no good reason kind of like the way Ryan try to get rid of the main character to create drama. sorry I"m renting and I stop now but I leave you with this to think about, does his death really change the story or character's that much? does it make them relize something new? does his death change anyone to be better at something?? cause I really don't see any change after his death. and it anger me cause I ask myself why even addidng Ryan to the story if in the end his character would cheaply killed off with no meaning? I guess I would never know that XD but that's fine.
about your last words - here what I said: "again if he was tired, he could have just kill himself and it would be the same. but it won't change the fact that his death was pointless other then for character no one care about. "
here I talk about ways Ryan could have die, but it won't change the fact that the way the things handle, his death would have no meaning. and then I talk about the character's that actually LOVE and care about Ryan and that him been gone would effect and change them forever. yeas his friend girl, that I love her the most by the way, was sad but it didn't change her personlity that much, Lucaon was the less to change at all by it, since we know who the only that can change him, yeas he was a little sad for one panel. so the one I meant is actually Cheris/ the servent blond dude (sorry is I speal his name wrong) but of course most of the people I see that read this comic don't care much if at all about Cheris. not saying they wrong, but it seem to be a thing, and Cheris ability to actually change himself was stolen from him with his memories so....there go an actuall meaning to his death.
I guess one thing Ryan was right about, no one will miss or care about if he is gone. that seem to be the most truth in this story XD
If that's the case, then, I don't think you have a say in this. You are complaining about how the story was handled, that is decision of the author, not the rest of us.
How can you know if Ryan's death changed them or not? Even if you speculate, you don't and CAN'T know for sure.
I don't think this story lacks great characters, each has its role to play.
Say.
Lucaon needs to be the bad guy that goes good.
Kyon is the one that started as the victim and turned out to be the persistent one that got what he wanted at the end.
Say.
Sihan started as someone simple and, at the end, I think, he's the one that glued people together.
Karis was an asshole and he turned out to be a Mother Hen.
Ryan, in my opinion, had more to his Background than a love story. He was the one to create the solution, he failed, he won, he failed again and won again. If you are comparing his successes with the "love life" he had with Christoph, I think you're missing the point of THIS character. Maybe not all characters are made to have successful love stories and I don't think Ryan needed a love arc to be a great character.
Again, we're just going in circles.
Our opinions are, indeed, very different. Whereas you see Ryan's existence pointless, I think he was really important to the story.
So. I mean. No point in discussing this when none of us are changing minds :)
I have any right to critic anything, like anyone else can. who say we not allowed to enjoy something and critic it after like art /story we love? that my answer to that. you want to ignore it, go ahaed. want to agree to disagree, it's fine too. and how do I know, I actually "read" the story. that how I know, I don't need to be the autor to see the character's are not effected by Ryan death.
has for the other's, I make it short: Lucaon - rape Kyon, become good cause of Kyon = effected by Kyon from the start to the end.
Kyon - Kyon full on love after been rape by Lucaon and learn to say what he wants and be honest etc....
I ask how Ryan death effect any of the character's. even a background character can effect the main character's without having any romance with them, you know. it all depends on the plot. the only reason I mantion Cheris, is cause he could have been the only one that actually could have change cause of Ryan death, notice the word death, but it didn't happen. I didn't see Ryan has pointless, the way the story was handle and build make him a pointless character in the background. what actually piss me off.
I won't answer anymore, but have a good day.

Aside that this chapter has all my uwus, I just. . . this. This is what they all deserve.
Happiness.
I love how Lucaon went from "I'm using this servant for sex" to "I might be using this servant for sex but my heart does a strange thing every time I see him" to "Oh shit, what are these feelings" to, finally, THIS ♡ he might be a rather silent character, but he is so soft and caring and I swear, he deserves all this happiness after all he went through. He finally has THAT person that stays with him. Like Sihan said. Kyon is his person. ┗( T﹏T )┛♡
If this pair managed, I am eager to see how Sihan and Karis do. Oh my.
My heart can't help but think about Ryan, too. . . how, at the end, he had to leave everything behind and how "his person" was not really his. He deserved so much better too. . . but, i think, what he deserved the most was a rest. And I'm glad he had it TuT♡
I can smell the ending for this story coming and it breaks my heart as much as it fulfills it. I'm so full of emo. But I'm so happy. I might cry a little bit before I let go of this amazing story and its characters, which I love deeply ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
