It's not that simple. The childhood abuse, and we know about it since chapter 5, is one of the causes, but this doesn't mean Sangwoo is totally free from responsability of his actions. He deliberately chose to hurt people torturing, manipulating, raping, killing them. He knows what he's doing because he created his outward persona to trick the police, and he accurately plans his murders. Tbh this chapter didn't change anything for me, I already thought the child didn't deserve the abuse but the man is a horrible piece of shit that should be stopped.
Of course he is responsible of many things. But think of him as a pitbull. Those dogs react in the way their owners raise them, and are aggressive because their owners taught them so they don’t know a happy reality. That’s why I feel sorry for him, because he doesn’t know what happiness is.
im pretty sure he knows what real happiness is, look at him being happy in the car and how hes gonna tell his buddies about it
Bum had an abusive childhood too, no parenting love, the uncle raping and abusing him, her grandma blaming for everything, bullied and ostarcized at school and he doesn't want to hurt people ( stalking is a crime, but he doesn't do that in order to hurt people). I think the reasons are both in nurture AND in nature, and you can't compare an animal to a person because as I said, Sangwoo chose to continue killing and he's doing it remorseless. It's not that he doesn't understand the bad from the good because he can perfectly hide under the mask of a good handsome boy and he perfectly functions in society
