I still remember, how much I cried over Suguru dieing when I picked up this manga a couple years ago... I dropped it pretty early on during a particularly boring story arc, but it was one of the first stories (be it a manga, anime or a novel) to make me cry, so it's quite memorable. I will probably pick it up again sometime.
My point is, if you like a story that will make you feel a LOT, then this manga is as good as any.
