I'm confused too...if there's a mistake, it should be fixed ...
From reading the translator's notes apparently the author switches between using he/she/it when referring to the child. I'm not really sure what importan plot point does keeping the gender ambiguous play in the story, but with so few chapters and little information, it could mean anything and might be tied to this whole "calamity" thing that will be occurring.
Probably that's the reason of the confusion.. yet, the translator should explain at least put a footnote or epilogue to avoid such confusion...thanks!

I'm still on chapter 2, but I'm confused...the summary says the little fox is a girl...in the beginning they refer to the child as "young master" , the guys in the car refers to the child as a she then starts using he after they go to the police station...so the fox child is female or male?
