Well this is only what I think, anyway I think Arhad thinks that they re-live the previous live again, That why he was surprise to see her in the temple, because they are not supposed to meet for another 3 year at that sword competition(according to previous live) Also that why Ianna was also surprised when they meet in school 3 years before the sword competition. Also Lanna try to get close to Arhad, it doesn’t happen in previous live too.
After Lanna die, both Lanna and Arhad has changed in some way. I guess they both learn something from that previous live, or at least learn what when wrong, that why they never become a couple. And if they still act the same way again, history will just repeat itself.

I simply can't the the reason for him to change this much in just a few month... Around ch. 35 one could really notice how Arhad was surprised by meeting her and tried getting close... this baby-face Arhad we have now is somewhat boring.
