    Birth defects only happens in 1° level cousins.
    In Japan and many other countries it is normal for the families to be big to the point of having 6° and 7° level cousins, where there is almost 0 dna in commune.

    From what I get from the story I'm going to say no.
    Normally this type of arrangements are done between very distant relatives.
    And in manga if they are very close in family...it's like the 1° thing they talk about xD

    It’s actually totally legal for cousins to marry. Incest classifies as sexual relations between immediate family, aka siblings or parent/child.
