There's a lot of things that are not answer or yet been reveal or will ever be reveal like does his dad had the nerve to make a family when he basically abused the last ones he look like he changed and is more gentle but I think the reason why he didn't finish school is because of the abuse that effected him in some way? Or maybe it wasn't for him he doesn't like his dad like that so why would he even want to make the dude that caused him mom to leave them and used him to make him happy....idk if that's the reason but if it was me I wouldn't dare to even care about him anymore or to even make him happy idk anymore I just lost track of what I was supposed to talk about lmao so I don't think I have a clue here sorry
He didnt do poorly. his dad was just abusive and everytime a teacher would call the dad and say he's good, the dad would make him do math in front of him and the pressure and the verbal abuse just made him freeze up so he could never do it in front of his dad. And he left school and the house after his grandma died which meant he had to go back to his dad and hye just couldnt take it anymore.
He probably suffered from test anxiety (and anxiety in general) because of his father. So he was smart and did all the homework and work correct but when it came time for tests and grades he failed
That makes sense. But at one point he panics that the tofu face noticed that he could do math well and says in a thought bubble that he was careful to keep a low profile. So it seemed like he was saying he purposely didnt do well
