Huh I'm kinda confused too. My guess is that Tae (or perhaps a nasty relative) dropped Yata (who they made Tae attempt to abort) in the river, which Tengu picked up. Since Tae was the mother, and they were in a relationship, he would be a step father. I'm confused if Yata and Tae are son and mother :/
I believe Yata was the aborted child of Tae. Sekyu is sad that he and Tae never officially became husband and wife so he missed out on being Yata's stepfather. I also think that his "younger brother" was the missing tengu baby that Sekyu was waiting for in the beginning.

can someone clarify what sekyu tengu meant when he was talking about yata’s mother and being his stepfather near the end???? is it because he was with tae???? sorry im dumb
