For a moment I actually thought he wouldn't doubt the Empress because he love her as much as saying how he can die for her, yet he couldn't believe her for a moment. He was an intelligent and great Emperor but fail to notice little detail like someone could've impose as the Empress or try to frame her T_T. Oh well, I still like this outcome too.
