"Gay people aren’t always what they’re portrayed as in yaoi"... This phrase is not exactly correct. It should be "Gay people are almost never the way they are portrayed in Yaoi. Most homosexual couples are actually flex and even when they do have their preferences, it is definetly not based on "whoever looks more like a woman".
Actually, Yaoi targets women, so most of its relationships have patterns more commonly seen in straight couples.
I don't think it is wrong for us women to like Yaoi.
But to keep staring at real gay couples walking on the streets or start fights setting RULES for adequate top/bottom behaviour is actually VERY VERY WRONG. Fujoshis some times act like they actually OWN male-male couples. Other bad thing is throwing hate ate female characters. And the worst fujoshi shit-like behaviour is to forgive rape.
This manga is beautiful. I specially enjoyed the fact that the feminine character wasn’t a bottom. This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but thinking about it realistically, there isn’t any ‘rule’ that men/women should act or dress like this, that’s something made by the society but that’s just it which is made just for one reason: women look better in those clothes which still I don’t agree with and people should be able to wear whatever they want or act the way they want. I don’t think wearing feminine clothes, being short or more elegant, has anything to do with being top or bottom. I’m not a male, but I can assure that what is common in yaoi, isn’t always the truth irl. I know it’s depressing for some people, but you have to know the bitter truth: gay people aren’t always what they’re portrayed as in yaoi.
However if you really don’t find males who wear feminine clothes attractive, we can’t do anything about your preference, it’s nothing more or less, but you also have to acknowledge the fact that not everything happening in this world is according to your preferences.
